If you've read anything at all about software components you will know at least two things: i) components are expected to solve the software reusability problem and ii) components are big, slugguish and opaque pieces of code.

The IST COMPARE project is set to change this last perception. This website has been created to disseminate COMPARE results but also to catalyse the creation of a community on embedded component technology.

Vincent Seignole has presented the COMPARE results at the OMG Workshop on Distributed Real-time Embedded Systems.
The sppech was titled Component based approach to real-time and embedded systems and included a description of the ECF component approach, issues on the integration of some real-time techniques with components, analisys of retargetability of components towards OSEK-VDX and a description of the COMPARE software defined radio demonstrator.
